Airstream of Utah has been open for 6 months! We can definitely say Utah has a favorite Airstream for 2017. The Sport. Why is "The Sport," so popular? What does "The Sport," even mean? To answer these questions we did some research on this favorite trailer. When it comes to Airstreams there are six different types of travel trailer units. The Basecamp, which has been named RV of the year by several editorials including RV Business; The Sport, an entry model; The Flying Cloud which is and has been the most popular for the longest time due to its varied sizes and layouts; The International Signature; The International Serenity; and the Classic, the flagship of airstream models.

These trailers have tons of various features, but whether it be size, trim, or (you fill in the blank), they all have the same purpose of being the piece of home you bring with you.

So why is the Sport trailer, which is as bare bones as the Airstream trailer gets, the most popular at Airstream of Utah? The Sport comes in two sizes sixteen feet and twenty-two feet. The first being the most popular. They are narrower in body than most units and have only one axle. The Sport does have the iconic Airstream look and build while still being capable of being towed by a smaller vehicle. The 16-footer weighs the same as the 2,800 lb. Basecamp and the 22-footer won’t weigh more than 4,500 lb. It comes standard with a microwave, air conditioner, and solar capability. It has a good-sized bed and dinette, which unlike the Basecamp, you can use at the same time without the work of having to set up and take down. Not only does this save you some work, but it can also sleep up to four people. Perfect for families. When comparing the Sport to the Basecamp, the Sport has a full awning that extends from the unit covering a great-sized patio space. The Basecamp only has a small visor attached.
