Cleaning the Interior of your RV

Oct. 10 2018 Miscellaneous By ___

Being an RV owner isn’t just about fun and games. It requires work and dedication to ensure your trailer will continue to be a comfortable and inviting place to live. The easiest way to accomplish this is to keep everything neat and tidy. In such a small space, it won’t take a very big mess to make the place feel cramped. But there’s also a lot of ground to cover, and some important concerns to note, so Airstream of Utah has provided a list of tips to help you keep the inside of your RV nice and clean. If you still need a trailer to clean, stop by our location in Salt Lake City, Utah, near Park City, Provo, and Ogden, and let one of our friendly staff show you around the models we have available right now.

Bathroom

Your bathroom will probably be one of the dirtiest places in the entire RV, even if you can’t see it with your eyes. This probably shouldn’t come as a surprise. After all, the same could probably be said for your bathroom at home. However, in such a small space, you’ll want to be more diligent about keeping it clean, but when you do go to clean the bathroom, you’ll probably be met with some challenges.

Firstly, there’s the matter of the lack of space you’ll have. Even bigger RV bathrooms can be a little cramped. Consider cutting down your cleaning supplies to the bare minimum, looking for two-in-one cleaning products and discarding the toilet bowl brush for a paper towel instead.

When you’re cleaning your toilet, make sure you fill it with water a bit before dumping soap in. When you’re finished, flush a few times to ensure all the product you used has gone down the drain. Make sure all the products you use are safe for your RV. We recommend cleaning the toilet once a week and the entire bathroom once every other week. Don’t forget the mirror and floors.

Floor

Speaking of floors, with all the in and out your family will do, you’ll probably find your floors can get pretty dirty, pretty quickly. Even if you like to do your cleaning when you’re parked at home, it’s a good idea to have floor cleaning supplies on hand to tackle any spills or stains. For hard floors, you’ll want to find a collapsible mop, or at least some disinfectant wipes for spot treating.

For carpet, we recommend a hand vacuum. This might make vacuuming, even small spots, take a little longer than it normally would, but hand vacuums won’t take up as much room in your RV. You might also want a floor cleaner for any major stains and consider a plan for cleaning the carpets once every year or so.

The Vents

Your vents will start to get dirty faster than the vents at your stationary home. You won’t need to clean them out all the time, but a little touching up is going to go a long way. Make sure to clean all parts of the vent, including washing out the screens, cleaning the filters, and scrubbing the inside of the vents. When you’re finished, leave the vents open so they can air dry and you can avoid moisture getting trapped inside.

Other Details

Cleaning your windows, including the windshield if you have one, can also help liven up your interior. Keep things dusted so there are no floating particles to irritate throats and lungs and use vinyl or leather protector to touch up the furniture. In general, if you see something that could use a little spit shine, take the time to clean it.

As you’re cleaning, you might notice a more serious maintenance issue that needs to be addressed. Minor fixes you might be able to take care of, but for everything else, contact the service department at Airstream of Utah and let us help you get back on the road in no time. We proudly serve Salt Lake City, Park City, Provo, and Ogden, UT.
