Traveling in your Nest by Airstream During the Holidays
With the holidays just around the corner, you might be reluctant to put your Nest by Airstream away. After all, it’s hard to watch the camping season come to a close. So then why bother? If you’re traveling for the holidays to see family, consider skipping the packed airports and expensive hotels and travel in your trailer. Maybe even make a last minute trip to see a friend you haven’t seen in a while. You might even be a full-time RVer looking for a way to keep the festive spirit alive. Whatever the situation, check out some of our tips from all of us here at Airstream of Utah to make the most of this holiday season in your Nest by Airstream trailer. If you’d like more tips, stop by our location in Salt Lake City, Utah, near Park City, Provo, and Ogden.
Where to Go
Start by figuring out where you’re going to go. Even if you’re avoiding major freeways and airports, it’s probably a good idea to have a plan for when holiday traffic hits. Some people choose to travel to a specific location, maybe where family is or some friends you’d like to spend the holidays with. Single destinations are good, but your Nest by Airstream can be even more helpful if you have several stops to make. You can even choose to spend the holiday season in a favorite RV park. Most remain open on these days for the full-timers and you’ll probably find fun activities planned by the campground. No matter what your plans are, you know you’ll be home for the holidays.
Decorations
One of the best parts of the holiday season is all the fun lights and decorations you’ll see when you pass through town. There’s no need for you to miss out on this. Your Nest by Airstream is just as capable of a twinkling light display as your stationary home. String up those lights and put up holiday garden signs to show everyone you’re ready for the holidays. Just remember to take them down if you have to hit the freeway.
Touch up your interiors by hanging up ribbons, garland, more lights, or anything else you normally put up inside your home. The challenge is the tree, as you don’t have a lot of space in your trailer for it. Real trees may not be as feasible, but consider alternative trees that make use of other items around the home. Or choose a smaller tree, either that you find at the store or one that other people might pass up on the tree farm.
Food
Big meals aren’t as easy in a small kitchen, so you’ll have to rethink your holiday meals. Consider first finding a holiday potluck to take part in, either at your friend’s or family’s house or at the RV park. Then find an alternative to the big, main course dishes you might be used to. Instead of ham or turkey, chicken might be a little easier to manage. Or offer to bring a side dish so you’re not overwhelming your kitchen. This will also make it easier to clean up. You can always check to see if your RV park has a public kitchen you can use or if the house you’re going to will lend you some space, but remember that these places might be crowded and in high demand, so it’s not guaranteed.
Now all that’s left is to enjoy the season! If you’ve never spent the holidays in a Nest by Airstream, then we know you’re in for a real treat. It can relieve much of the stress and help you enjoy time with friends and family. From all of us here at Airstream of Utah, we wish all our fellow RVers and their families a very happy holidays!
