Do You Have the Right Vehicle to Tow an Airstream?
Our Airstream trailers vary in weight from 3,500 lbs to 10,000lbs. You'll need the right tow vehicle. We recommend that your vehicle can tow at least the GVWR(gross vehicle weight rating) of the Airstream you choose but strongly encourage a vehicle that can tow at least 1,000 lbs more. Depending on how full you pack it with food, water, clothes, and gear. Many medium SUVs and trucks fit the bill. Make sure that you have at least a Class III hitch with 2 5/16” ball that is ideally about 20" off the ground at its top as well as a 7-pin wire connector and brake control on your vehicle. We also strongly recommend getting an Equalizer Hitch with your Airstream to distribute weight and alleviate sway. This will enable you to tow safely and focus on having fun.
