With the advent of remote work options, there are thousands of people who no longer have to worry about commuting to and from an office. This means you don’t have to work from the same place every day, which makes remote work a very attractive option for those who live in their Airstream® RVs full-time.

However, there are some things to think about when you’re living and working in your RV all the time, since it’s much smaller than your home and may not have quite the same amenities that you’re used to.

1. Choosing the Right RV

First, it’s important to make sure that you’re selecting an RV that has the features you need to make remote work a success. You’ll want to have a roomy enough RV that comes with modern power connections and plenty of USB ports and power outlets for your laptop, phone, tablet, printer, and any other electronics you may need in your work.

2. Creating a Workspace

You need to have a comfortable and secure workspace in your RV that allows you to focus on your tasks, rather than constantly shifting around and getting distracted. You can either build or install a small desk for your laptop that could fold into the wall when you don’t need it. A good-quality office chair will save your spine and make it easier to work for hours.

Ample lighting and a power strip are also necessary so that you can keep your devices charged and ready to use. Try to keep your workspace out of the way of foot traffic; avoid placing it directly in front of doorways or near a hallway if you can.

3. Staying Connected

Having a reliable Wi-Fi connection is essential for remote work, since most of these types of jobs are performed online. You should also have a good cell phone plan that allows you to call clients, coworkers, managers, or suppliers whenever you need to get in touch.

Check with your cell phone provider to see if they offer a Wi-Fi hotspot option that you can use with your mobile phone in the event that you can’t locate reliable internet access. Bear in mind that campground internet connections can be flaky and unreliable, so you’ll definitely need to have a backup to ensure you’re always able to do your work.
