While some folks might choose to winterize and store their RVs over the cold months, there are always those adventurous souls who wish to use their RVs all year long. And it can be done, provided you are safe and responsible about the preparation process. If you’re one of those intrepid campers, we’ve got some tips on how to make sure that your winter RV camping goes off without a hitch.

Insulate Your RV

In order to keep your RV’s interior nice and warm, you’ll likely need to add some insulation. Add some RV vent cushions to your vents to keep warm air from escaping. A thin insulating window film can be applied to all your glass panels to further help keep the RV warm, along with some thicker curtains. It can also be helpful to insulate any pipes that aren’t already contained within cabinetry.

Get More Propane

You’ll need to invest in plenty of propane to keep your RV warm, so don’t forget to grab an extra tank of it, especially if you’re camping far away from a propane source. You can also check with your campground to see if they sell propane.

Pack For Emergencies

You’ll want to make sure that your RV is well-stocked with warm blankets, extra winter clothing, coats, boots, gloves, socks, scarves, and hats that you can layer up in if you lose power or have to walk outside for a long time. Make sure you have extra water and food, as well as your emergency radio, an ax, some rope, duct tape, and other emergency gear that you typically carry.
